Hi there, I’m Jim.

This blog was conceived way back in 2009 when I walked my first Coast To Coast with my daughter Laura.  I kept a diary during the walk, which I have lent out on occasion to friends that were considering doing it themselves.  Now, I’m sharing the experiences of that walk and the subsequent three (and counting!) with you, I hope you enjoy reading about them!

I discovered the Coast To Coast thanks to my eldest son Matthew, who completed the walk with his friend Joe back in 2005, aged just 16.  They did it in five days, 21 hours – backpacking and camping all the way.  A magnificent achievement but not without the attendant difficulties caused by the pace; many blisters and sore knees!!  I am in my early 50’s with a background in software development.  Live music and walking are my twin passions so you will find me either in one of the local pubs banging away on the ivories in Jerry Lee style or out on the hills with my Patterdale  terrier, Foxie.
